Acne: To develop an inspiration book with visuals and quotations that functions as a guide, for the
creative and art direction team of Acne, to develop a branded fashion event.
The pivotal role that inspiration played throughout my research has formed the basis and
outcome of the end product: Futurist Manifesto. It is a manifesto that offers a presentation
of visual inspiration to direct and guide the creative team of Acne in developing a branded
fashion event (a form of a brand experience).
The desired target audience is difficult to please and highly sensitive to poor decisions on
the brandʼs behalf. In order to keep them satisfied and continuously challenged it is of
paramount importance to be ahead of that what is to come. Therefore I have researched
three worldwide trends and three specific trends that occur in the apparel industry.
Silhouette, colour palette and material are three elements that shape and define the feel
and look of a collection. Each one of them is indispensable when drawing up a concept for
a branded fashion event. The brandʼs core values are a) austere b) sleek silhouette
(scandinavian) c) art equals industry and d) a hush over a piercing shriek. Taking these as
a lead and combining them with the changes that occur over time due to trends I have
discovered that the all overarching trend of ʻEnvironmental Awarenessʼ affects almost all
other trends to a certain extent. Apparel specific, we see traces of this trend in the colour
palette, material usage and shape.
My research report and more so end product is an exploration into showing inspiration that
relies on nature against man made, robust against smooth, pastel and subdued colours
against an explosion of colourful universes and organic designs versus heavily constructed
ones. The end product visualises the inspiration and offers the creative team of Acne
guidance and direction for their future branded fashion event experience. Please take a
