For the collection of fall/winter 2010-2011 I was working as a production manager for Satara in Hubli, India.
My main responsibilities were; supervising a production team of 20 seamstresses, training a local Indian production manager, creating a production schedule and ensuring adherence, ordering fabrics, quality control, shipment of garments, financial planning and administration. Furthermore I wrote an analysis of the company, focusing on its structure and continuity.
The mission of Satara Foundation is to encourage and empower underprivileged women in India to develop themselves by providing them with education and entrepreneurial support. I participated in this project because of the great opportunity to gain experience as a manager before my graduation, while at the same time helping underprivileged women.
The result of the project was the production of the Satara fall/winter 2010-2011 collection, and the training of 20 Indian seamstresses who gained experience and skills in the production of Western fashion.
